Context

As a Visual Communication Designer at GIZ India in Biodiversity Knowledge Management Team, I work at the intersection of design and sustainable development, translating complex ecological and policy ideas into communication that people can actually understand and connect with.

My work spans concept development, communication strategy, and implementation support across IGBP's thematic clusters, including forest ecosystem services, gender-responsive forestry and agroforestry, digital biodiversity tools, wetland conservation, circular economy, and domestic financing for conservation.

about the organization

GIZ India, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit is Germany's international development agency, working in partnership with the Government of India on sustainable development challenges. In India, GIZ operates across sectors including biodiversity, climate, energy, health, and governance.

The Indo-German Biodiversity Programme (IGBP) is one of GIZ India's flagship portfolios, spanning 16 projects across six thematic clusters:

  • forest ecosystem services,

  • gender-responsive forestry and agroforestry,

  • digital biodiversity tools,

  • wetlands,

  • circular economy, and

  • domestic financing for conservation.

The programme works closely with India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and a wide network of state agencies, civil society organisations, and technical experts.
